iPhone tips to make sure your smartphone doesn’t shut down when its COLD

With temperatures continuing to plummet across the UK, you’ll probably find yourself throwing a few extra layers on.

But it’s not just yourself you need to keep warm – it’s your phone too.

During the ‘Beast from the East’ last year, many iPhone users found that their phones were unexpectedly shutting down.

You might be worrying about similar issues this winter, but thankfully there are several things you can do to prevent your iPhone shutting down.

MusicMagpie has put together some tips on how to keep your iPhone in tip-top condition this winter.

Jon Miller, MD of electronics at musicMagpie, said: “Apple states that iPhones and other iOS devices operate most efficiently when the ambient temperature is between 0C and 35C.

“Therefore, the iPhone is actually designed to shut down automatically under certain conditions, such as extremely cold temperatures.”

Protect the battery

iPhones are fitted with lithium-ion batteries, and if liquid inside freezes, it can results in the battery shutting down.

To avoid this, put your phone in your pocket to keep it warm or in a bag at the very least.
